Summer is here, which means that many drivers are out and about getting started with all kinds of summer adventures! Here at Dick Dyer Volvo Cars, we want you to have a fun and safe season. So, we've compiled a few driving tips for summer safety. Driving during summer has some unique challenges that can arise, so it's always a good idea to brush up on things you can do to ensure a safer experience for you, your passengers, and those around you.

1.) Extra Summer Service

Treating your car to summer service at our Volvo service center can help you avoid potential issues like malfunctioning air conditioning systems or vehicle breakdowns caused by overheated engines or batteries. We recommend making an appointment with our team before you head out on a road trip.

2.) Be Extra Mindful When Backing Out or Parking

Warmer weather means that more people are walking, riding bikes, and otherwise being outside. Be sure to be extra watchful to avoid accidents.

3.) Stock Your Emergency Kit

Even well-maintained vehicles can suffer breakdowns, so we recommend having a roadside emergency kit handy. Be sure to keep it stocked with drinking water, nonperishable food, a first-aid kit, jumper cables, a flashlight, and anything else you need to help you stay safe until help arrives.

4.) Don't Leave Anyone in the Car

The temperature inside a parked vehicle can climb to dangerous levels quickly even with the windows open and engine running, so be sure to bring kids and pets with you if you need to leave the car, even if it's just for just a few moments.
